Bayview Event Center || Kelly & Ben

I have so much goodness to share about this couple.  Kelly came into the studio a few months before her wedding with her soon-to-be mother-in-law, Rhoda.  While we met they shared about the wedding plans and about Ben, who was graciously spared from having to attend wedding appointments!  After getting through the formalities, Kelly shared with me their story.  It goes something like this:

Kelly and Ben met in elementary school.  They shared a mutual first kiss in 8th grade, but as we all know, 8th grade relationships often lack longevity!  Life went on, I’m sure a few more kisses were had, and their paths eventually took different courses.   Kelly went on to marry and Ben traveled, as his career as a professional fisherman took him all over the country.

As life would have it, tragedy struck.  Kelly’s husband was killed in a car accident by a drunk driver.  I learned during the speeches at Kelly and Ben’s wedding, that it was an extremely dark time for Kelly.  I can’t imagine the pain that comes with losing your lover and best friend.  Somehow, Ben and Kelly reconnected in this difficult time and Ben helped, consoled, stood by Kelly as she grieved.  Along the way these two, who long ago shared their first kiss with each other, fell in love for the first time.

Kelly spoke to her new husband after the toasts, “Ben, you saved me.”  Their wedding was filled with the joy deep in their relationship, tears in memory of Kelly’s former husband, and a party to properly celebrate the marriage of these two incredible people.

Fans of all things wedding on the TLC network may recognize Kelly from being featured recently on Randy to the Rescue.   Oh, and that white-haired beauty in the tiara?  Kelly’s maid of honor was her adorable 100 year-old grandmother.

Kelly and Ben, we are so very happy for both of you!  Thank you for truly inspiring us all with your story of love and triumph.
