Dubai

My mom and I recently traveled to Dubai. It was an amazing experience. While I wouldn’t recommend it for a honeymoon destination I would definitely say to go if ever the chance!

We saw this man sitting alone in the market square. I always question how I will be received with my over sized camera, somewhat invading peoples private worlds. He let me in his. He has one of those faces that manage to tell a beautiful story with out saying a word.

Lunch time. We found small groups of men clustered together doing everything from playing cards, telling jokes, or as seen below, simply resting.

This was a country with pockets of vibrant colors and rich culture which for the most part we found tucked away in corners and alleys. It was a welcomed contrast from the stark desert terrain and towering skyscrapers.

The city was busy and crowded. The temperaters reached nearly 100 degrees. It was amazing to go from urban chaos to the vast and silent desert in only a 20 minute car ride.

I bet you had no idea the desert could be so much fun! I’m a little embarrassed at the exaggerated smiling. I mean, it’s 100 degrees, we were car sick from the 4 wheeling excursion we just escaped from, and it’s the desert for crying out loud! This is however typical behavior for my mom and me. Isn’t she cute?!

I’ve never had any desire to visit the Middle East or to see a desert. I have to say it was by far the most breath taking sight I’ve seen. Something about the endlessness of it, the greatness… I truly reminded me of the brilliance of God. It makes you feel so small, in the middle of something so Great.

Rode my first camel. They’re really tall and really potent! They have these sweet eyes and gentle disposition.Rode my first camel.
