State Fair Fun (or something)

Let me start by warning that I am in no way a fan of the State Fair. I attend once every 3 years out of sheer obligation and a little curiosity. I can never fully grasp what it is we’re all there to see. While there we walked, ate, sat… I don’t know, I just don’t get the appeal.

Not being a fan of large crowds of sweaty strangers I have a paticularily hard time. If I recal, I was run over by 2 strollers and unknown numbers of wonderers. It’s all part of the experience, I know. Sharing a shoulder rub with a fellow Minnesotan should be considered an honored obligation of fair-goers. And I suppose it is just that obligation that forces me to make the pilgramige every three years. To the devot (yearly attenders), I applaud you. To the zealous (those who make multiple trecks in one season), you scare me.

On a bright note; I loved the food and regret not having had more. My list of treats (a count down in order of affection):
#7 Chicken on a stick with a weird dill flavor
#6 Fried green tomatos
#5 Corn Fritters
#4 Soft serve ice cream
#3 Giant pickle on a stick
#2 Hand cut french fries
#1 And the winner… Drum Roll Please… Cheese Curds!!!!

I personally think it should be a law for everyone to consume an entire order of cheese curds completely on their own. It was these deep fried little grease balls that redeemed the great Minnesota State Fair once again and sealed my promised return.

Enjoy!

Okay, not part of the fair but always worthy of a post, my puppies!

This should’ve been my first warning. “Stop Sally… run”. Only kidding (kind of)!

Details, details.

A worthwhile sight at the fair is always the horses, LOVE them!

I’m not sure what this is but use cation if approached, he’s a horny little guy and took a particular liking to my mother!

Food, food, food!

Mom and me, looking a little weary in my opinion!
